Osama Raslan, spokesman for Egypt’s Awqaf ministry, announced that the country will host the finals from December 6 to 10.
He described the contest as the largest Quran competition of its kind in the world, Al-Dustour reported.
In a telephone interview with the “This Morning” program broadcast on Extra News, Raslan explained that what distinguishes this year’s competition is the unprecedented presence of 158 participants in the final stage for the first time after preliminary rounds that included hundreds and even thousands of applicants from different countries around the world.
The spokesman noted that the use of modern technology facilitates remote preliminary rounds and ensures that only qualified candidates advance to the final stage.
He said the competition is witnessing the participation of 72 countries, the largest number of participants in the history of the Quranic event.
Raslan stressed that the Egyptian government’s support is at the highest level, noting that the country’s president personally honors the winners every year on the Night of Qadr in the holy month of Ramadan.
He also emphasized that the total value of the prizes this year amounts to 13 million Egyptian pounds.
Raslan added that this round of the competition coincides with the success of the “State of Recitation” program launched by the Awqaf Ministry to discover Egyptian talents in Quran recitation.

He emphasized that the distinction of the competition stems from its Egyptian spirit, as it does not require only memorization, but also mastery of different recitations, understanding of grammar, means of revelation, and interpretation.
He said the goal is to prepare participants who will be ambassadors of the Quran and have the ability to correctly recite verses and understand their meanings.
